While much of the attention in recent months has understandably focused on the presidential race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, further down the ballot there are 469 congressional races as well (all 435 House races and 34 Senate races). With an eye towards majority control, Democrats have nominated a number of strong Senate candidates and a handful of competitive House candidates.

This week on the Political Saints blog, students in Dr. Collens’s U.S. Congress class offer their predictions for 9 key House races. In addition, students in Dr. Collens’s Contemporary U.S. Politics courses will predict the outcomes of several key Senate races.

With a potential Senate Democratic majority to be led by New York’s own Sen. Chuck Schumer and 8 competitive House races, the 2016 congressional elections are a high-stakes affair for the Empire State. Stay tuned for our predictions!
